Anecdote* | Anna M. Morris; Ann and Richard bought a horse farm in OH they named Fox Run Farms. Ann learned to ride, as did their daughter, Elisabeth (Bitsy). Ann won many ribbons for side saddle riding and was a charter member of the International Side Saddle Organization and the first person in the state of Ohio to be qualified to be both judge and instructor. At Fox Run Farms they boarded horses and gave riding lessons and for many years produced “The Wonderful World of Horses,” for which Ann wrote the scripts, at the Geauga County Fair. After Richard died, Ann and Bitsy and staff continued to run the farm. | |

Anecdote* | At one time Isaac and his family lived north of Kalamazoo and later on the Fitch farm on the southwest corner of Old US 12 and Mattawan Road. Isaac took his family west to Nebraska for his health in 1870. They had traveled in a covered wagon and forded the Mississpipi River. His daughter, Clara Bell, related that the grasshoppers and locusts were so thick they left, returning by covered wagons to Ohio, then on home to Michigan. | |
