Anecdote* | Bud was the recipient of the Career Volunteer STAR Award in 1992. He grew up in a family of four boys who all loved the game of baseball. His involvement with the Milwood Little League began when his son, Jack, started playing in 1958. He has been coach, president, board member, district administrator and was named in 1984 to the (national) Little League Board of Directors. He initiated the Little League Softball World Series in Kalamazoo, which in 1989 included Canada and in 1992, Europe. Those acquainted with Bud said, "he has put as much volunteer time into the yearly success of Little League as most people put into their full-time jobs." The World Series ballpark (Vanderberg) in Milwood was named in his honor in 1985. In 1995 Bud received the E. Earl Wright Community Achievement Award. | |
