He graduated from Cyprus High School in 1959 then joined the Navy serving 4 years during the Vietnam War. Returning home he worked as a machinist at Kennecott Copper and eventually became a Journeyman in his trade. After retiring from Kennecott, Wayne went on to hold jobs as a handyman, appliance repairman, bus driver and finally drove a dump truck before retiring for good. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias and a member of the Elks Lodge He married his love and childhood friend Jolene Atkin on December 14, 1994. Wayne couldn't go anywhere without running into someone he knew. A simple trip to the grocery store often turned into a several hour adventure. He had a passion for muscle cars, cooking and could tell a great story. Wayne is survived by his children: Meraleen (Terry) Cain, Katrina (Jonathan) Long, Margaret Westerhold, Derrick (Kristen) Nuesmeyer; Step-Children: Shawn Jacobsen, Lori Banyai, Shawn (Julie) Atkin; twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
