Anecdote*"The ancestors of the Lhamon family came from Switzerland. There the name was spelled Lehman. In this country it developed many variations, the most common of which are Layman, Lhamon, Lahmon, and Lemmon.

"The immigrant ancestor, John Christian Lehman, settled in Pennsylvania. After his death in 1748, the family moved to Frederick County, Maryland.
