Anecdote*"He was the son of Louis Beaufait, who was born 22 August 1808 in Detroit and Catherine Peltier, who was born 3 June 1811 in Ft Wayne IN. Theodore's arm extended across Mack Ave. and into Harper Woods. In 1916, the Grosse Pte. Improvement Co. bought a part of his land and converted it into a golf course. Today, it's the Lochmoor Club. When he sold his land to the Lochmoor syndicate, Theodore moved his house across the street and lived there with his daughter Veva, until the ripe old age of 91. Theodore's neighbors were the Verniers, Wedykes, Stephensons, Michauxs, Van Antwerps, Allors, Renos, and Bachmans, who had a general store nearby.

Theodore built the fractional district No. 9 redbrick schoolhouse, which still stands on Mack at Lochmoor Blvd. Before then his daughter, Mathiltda attended the Vernier school near Jefferson.

Grosse Pte. Woods, which became a city in 1950, was incorporated as Lochmoor Village in 1927. A year later (1928), Joseph E. Beaufait was elected president and served two terms."
