In 1901 she was elected treasurer of the Richland school, the first lady to hold public office in the city.

Anecdote*"I have been very fortunate to have the most wonderful and loving wife, caring family and fun loving friends. Professionally I was blessed with a career ever challenging with peers and coworkers who became true friends. I am awe struck and humbled by all that have cared and prayed for me during the last month. Thank you!

My journey on this earth has come to an end. I have gotten on a cycle to follow those who have gone before me. Like my first ride on a cycle, I was scared, but the Road Captain has assured me that the road is smooth, the scenery spectacular and we will have the most perfect weather imaginable. He is the most experienced rider and familiar to all as He has guided many before me on the great journey to the heavens. While I enjoy these rides, I will search for the perfect table, at the perfect restaurant so we can enjoy a drink and good meal whenever He decides we should meet again. Until then I will listen to the music of the mortals, enjoy the stories they tell and the comfort that they provide. Take solace that I am not alone. I am in good hands.

I will miss you all, but will be there for you when you make this journey. Just remember when you hear the rumble in the sky, it is just me revving the engines and saying “I love you!”

Note*Mike was survived by his wife, Mary, siblings Ken (Mary) Nolan, Carole Nolan, Gary (Sue) Nolan, Keith (Doris) Nolan, Colleen (Mou) Chahine, as well as Michael's "wingman" and best friend Richard (Vicki) Heislen. Michael also leaves behind 5 nieces and nephews, Kelly, Ryan (Jenny), Cory (Kaitlyn), Keri and Brianna as well as several great nieces and nephews.
