Anecdote*He was a former Christian Brother, was dedicated to social justice and marched with Martin Luther King, Jr in Washington DC in 1963.
Over his lifetime, he donated more than 29 gallons of blood; he tutored in a literacy program; taught catechism; was a Cub Scout Master; worked for Habitat for Humanity; volunteered with meals on wheels in Shelby Township for more than a decade.
Mike joined the Leukemia Lymphoma Society Team in Training in 2009, raising over $75,000 for cancer research by riding over 1400 miles on bike rides all over the United States. He found great joy in his cycling activity and made many close friends who shared his love of cycling and his dedication to cancer research.
He loved sports, games, nature hikes, bike rides, canoe trips, sledding, skating, designing, building, inventing, creating.

Note*He was survived by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy (Beaton); son Christopher (Amy); daughter Shannon (Troy) Stutz; grandchildren" Meredith, Marion (Jon), Ryann, Rob, Garrett, Connor, and Brendan; siblings and their spouses: Frank (late Diane), Vince (Joan), Dan (Charlene), George (Geneva), Joyce (late Floyd), Carol (Karnapura), and David (Phyllis); nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by brothers Anthony and Tom, and sisters Mary and Roseanne. 
NoteMemorial donations were suggested to Hospice of Michigan or the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. 
Funeral*A Memorial gathering will took place on Saturday Dec 1st at 9am at St. Blase Catholic Church 12151 15 Mile Rd (Between Schoenherr & Dodge Park) until time of Memorial Mass 9:30 a.m.
Mike was cremated.

Anecdote*"The annual Mary Goeddeke Education Fund Benefit Basketball Game of Immaculate Heart of Mary-St. Casimir School is coming up March 12.

The game tips off at 7 p.m. in the St. Casimir Gym, 800 W. Barnes Ave. Proceeds will provide tuition assistance funds for families who attend IHM-St. Casimir School.

Mary was a former teacher and assistant principal who died in 1988. Each year, the Goeddeke family participates in this fund-raiser. Family members and IHM-St. Casimir faculty and staff members will compete against former IHM-St. Casimir students who now attend Lansing Catholic Central High School."
