Adam Kreilick

Anecdote*"Adam Kreilick was one of the pioneers of Rice township, Sandusky county.

"He married Miss Elizabeth Reitz in June, 1831. Two two years later the young couple started with their first child (now the wife of Capt. Kline, of
Fremont, Ohio) from their old home in eastern Pennsylvania for the wild regions of northeastern Ohio, after a five-weeks' journey with a horse and wagon over mountains and rivers, hills and valleys, arriving on the banks of Mud creek, in
the ' ' Black Swamp, " where David Druckenmiller, Peter Heitrick and David Gephardt had located two years previous.

"Adam purchased 200 acres of land.

"In the Kreilick family were six sons and five daughters, all now married and living in comfortable homes either in Ottawa county or Sandusky county, being located near the old homestead. They are Mrs. Andrew Kline, Mrs. Simon Bowersox, John, Elias, Daniel, Aaron, Adam, Peter, Mrs. William Keiser, Mrs. Samuel Miller, and Mrs. Jonas Hetrick. The mother of this family passed away in 1883.

He was baptized and confirmed in St Paul's Lutheran Church (Faith). The couple had joined Grace Lutheran of Fremont when they moved to Fremont in 1911.

Simon had been in poor health for some time. Funeral services were held from Grace Lutheran for Simon, conducted by Rev. W. E Tressel, pastor.

Simon resided on Rawson Ave, where he died after an attack of acute indigestion.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Louisa Lay Kreilick, six children; Mrs. Ella Risch, and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Bloom, Frank and John of Fremont; Mrs. Alberta Strauch, and Mrs. Ida Hasselbach. There were also sixteen grandchildren, a brother, Eli, and one sister, Mrs. Jonas Hetrick.
