Grandmother had four (five) brothers in the service: William Severance, who was killed. Harry Severance was wounded and in a New York hospital. He recovered after losing part of his right hand. Gersham was killed in battle. Sgt Charles Severance was in the calvary. Franklin served four years and returned home in fair health after a short sojurn in City Hospital and lived for many years on the Russel Turnpike." Grace E. McNeil
