Anecdote*Dr. Walton had a wide reputation based on his speaking ability. In every one of his communities, he took a principal part in the work of its social agencies. 
Association*Denominational posts included presidency of the board of Home Ministries of the Congregational Churches in the U.S. and moderator of the New York City Association of Congregational Christian Churches.

Rev. Walton preached regularly over the radio for the Federal Council of Churches and on television in the early days of the medium.

He wrote several books and authored several volumes of poetry. Titles include "This I Can Believe," "Life Is What You Make It,' and "Highways To Happiness." At the time of his death, he was grand chaplain of the Grand Lodge of the New York State Masons.
